Reztya - Excessive salt intake has been associated with the risk of various diseases such as heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases. A recent study even showed that too much salt is a trigger for 2.3 million deaths worldwide from cardiovascular disease.
Researchers at Harvard Medical School and Harvard shcool of Public Health said the United States, representing 15 percent of total deaths from cardiovascular disease. Nearly one million deaths, about 40 percent of excess salt-induced deaths, occurring at a young age. The researchers call this premature mortality, ie deaths under the age of 69 years. As many as 60 percent of the deaths were experienced by men.
The United States is 19th in the country out of the 30 countries listed 429 deaths versus one million adults are caused by excessive salt intake. The researchers noted, that number has a ratio of 1 out of 10 deaths related to heart disease.
According to data from research, resulting in 42 percent of heart attack deaths worldwide, while stroke caused 41 percent. As many as 84 percent of deaths occur in developing countries. Among the 30 countries, the largest number of deaths induced excessive salt consumption is in Ukrainian state as much as 2109, as many as 1803 Russia, and Greece as much as 836. All amounts are a comparison with one million people.
While the countries with the lowest mortality induced by excess salt consumption is as much as 73 state Qatar, Kenya by 78, the United Arab Emirates as much as 134 per one million people.
"National and global public health considering that salt intake reduction program of comprehensive potentially save millions of lives," said lead researcher Dariush Mozaffarian, associate professor of epidemiology at Harvard Medical School and Harvard shcool of Public Health.
