Safe Work During Pregnancy

Reztya - During healthy pregnancy, there is no reason to choose to reduce activity. A new study has claimed that working during pregnancy does not increase the risk of premature birth or having a baby with low birth weight.
Researchers from the University of Minnesota analyzed data from nearly 1,600 women who gave birth in 2005. Some of these women are working either full or part time during pregnancy, while others did not. The results they found no difference in the rate of preterm birth and low birth weight babies in both groups of pregnant women.

According to a study recently published in the journal Women's Health Issues, despite its work during pregnancy had no effect, but the risk factors are already known such as unhealthy lifestyles, maternal age, first pregnancy or more than four, race, and ancestry still greatly affects the occurrence of preterm birth and low birth weight babies.
"Research shows the relationship between the main characteristics of a specific job, such as workers requiring strenuous physical activity with long working hours would adversely affect pregnancy and birth are very different than the results for those who do not work," said the study's lead author Kozhimannil Katy Backes, from the division health policy and management in a release.
The researchers said the findings should not focus on whether or not women work during pregnancy, but the characteristics of his work, particularly in those at a higher risk.
"Our findings reaffirm the importance of discussions about pregnancy decisions when working, considering there are challenges that they face," said Kozhimannil.
Kozhimannil notes that are currently being held Pregnant Worker Fairness Act of Congress to get the best way to promote a healthy pregnancy among working mothers.
